Do I need experience to volunteer?

No! We have volunteers with a wide range of life experience. Do you have a faith in God and have a heart to serve? We would love for you to apply as a volunteer! We have all kinds of ways you can be involved. We provide extensive training to ensure that you are well prepared to work with our campers. Not only that, we have staff at camp dedicated to supporting you and helping you work through challenges that come up along the way. Just come with a heart for these children and a teachable spirit! Volunteer applications are reviewed, and applicants will be interviewed before training in late May. Background checks are required.

What does camp look like?

During the week the campers get to participate in new and exciting activities designed for their success and to help build self-esteem! Such activities include swimming, hiking, art and crafts, talent show, bug & lizard catching, music/motions, campfires, Bible lessons, sports & outdoor games, an “Everybody’s Birthday Party”, shooting bows & arrows, a Royal tea party and special guests. For many of these children, this is the first time they will know what it feels like to have a caring “family” as counselors, surrogate “grandmas & grandpas” and “aunts & uncles”, and staff showering them with encouragement, joining them in all kinds of fun and continually affirming them through compassionate care and love.

What is next after camp?

Following camp, children are given the opportunity to continue building trust and confidence with a caring adult mentor during the school year in our Mentoring Club. Participating campers are matched with trained mentors from the Royal Family KIDS Mentoring team.  Mentors and their mentees spend time together each month doing fun activities and building healthy adult-to-child relationships. This relationship is built upon: trust, safety and commitment – each mentor, mentee and caregiver commit to nine months of Club and one on one mentoring time. Children who have participated in our Mentoring Club Program have experienced tremendous growth in self-esteem and confidence. Mentors play a vital role in fostering hope through the relationships they build with their mentees.
